My name is Lorenzo
I was born a craftsman, like my father and my grandfather.
I was born in a workshop where the most beautiful masterpieces have been made for the most exclusive collectors in the World, from the European courts to the Kingdoms on the Silky Road.
At just 11 years old I had my initiation into the noble art of metal and chisel. I became fascinated with the stories of my grandfather – Carlo – locked in his own workshop by the guards of the Shah of Persia until his mirror in pure gold was completed. With my grandfather, but much more with my father Giuliano, we created unique objects, crowns, tiaras, sacred art, even a baby cradle with pure gold harnesses.
My Heritage
The history of my country is full of magnificent craftsmen who built our cathedrals, created the stained-glass windows of churches and palaces, and sculpted unique works that remain without a name. My grandfather Carlo was one of these craftsmen, but his name still today tells a very different story. In 1935 my grandfather Carlo came to Florence and brought a new lymph to the Florentine chisel art. With its unique Lombardo style, more vibrant and vigorous in the lines, he trained and educated the new generations of chisellers from the 1930s to the 1970s. All the very few Florentine chisellers remaining in Tuscany come from my grandfather’ s school.
My road to Art
Silver vases up to two meter high, entirely chiseled in embossed form by my grandfather and my father stand in the most beautiful palaces. Silver glasses and tableware tailored on the unique taste of the time that has been passing, still adorn tables and houses. This is the beauty that has nourished my soul and has increased my awareness.
I’m grateful to my grandfather and to my father because from them I learned an art and a technique that over time began to sculpt my life.
Today, after having experienced travels in territories apparently far from my art, such as fashion and writing, I have decided to infuse my energy into the sacred fire that my grandfather and my father knew how to grow in my soul.
